BFS is the largest student-led society at the University of Bath, representing over 2,000 members. We connect students with the people, skills, and opportunities that open doors to top careers in finance. What We Do
At the Bath Finance Society, we provide a wide range of opportunities for students to explore careers in finance, develop key skills, and build lasting connections.
Our flagship weekly Speaker Series brings industry professionals to Bath to share insights on banking, asset management, consulting, and beyond. Alongside this, we run practical workshops on applications and technical skills, as well as networking sessions that connect students with alumni and employers. Our lively socials throughout the year help create a welcoming community, making BFS not only a platform for professional growth but also one of the most vibrant and engaging societies on campus.
Speaker Series
Our flagship Speaker Series runs throughout the year, bringing industry professionals and alumni to Bath to share their experiences and insights. These talks cover a wide range of areas from investment banking and asset management to private equity, consulting, and fintech giving students first-hand exposure to different career paths and current market trends. Each session is followed by Q&A and informal networking, ensuring members leave with practical takeaways and the chance to connect directly with speakers.
Workshops
Our workshops are designed to give students practical, career-focused skills alongside technical finance knowledge. Sessions range from CV and cover letter clinics to practice with psychometric tests and assessment centres, helping members prepare for competitive applications. Alongside this, we run technical workshops on financial modelling, valuation methods, and market analysis, providing hands-on experience that builds confidence for interviews and future roles.
Networking
We place a strong emphasis on networking, giving our members the chance to connect directly with professionals, alumni, and peers. From structured networking evenings with leading firms to informal Q&A sessions after speaker events, students gain valuable insights and contacts across the financial sector.
